On October 1, 2024, Sulabh Public School, in collaboration with the Learning Links Foundation, hosted an event to celebrate World Environment Health Day, focusing on raising awareness about environmental sustainability and its crucial connection to human health. The event revolved around the theme “Protecting Our Health through Environmental Conservation,” underscoring the vital relationship between a clean environment and well-being.
The program featured distinguished speakers, including Dr Prem Kumar, Chairman of Sulabh International School of Action Sociology and Sociology of Sanitation, and Mrs Arti Sinha, Principal of Sulabh Public School, along with guest experts Mr Arvind Kumar (MBBS, DNB) and Mr Shareef Khan (BMLT), who shared their knowledge and insights.
Dr Prem Kumar and Mr Arvind Kumar delivered an engaging lecture emphasizing the urgent need to address environmental degradation, citing its direct link to health issues such as respiratory problems, waterborne diseases, and vector-borne illnesses. They stressed the importance of taking immediate action to protect the environment for the betterment of public health.
Mr Shareef Khan, an expert in medical laboratory technology, provided a practical perspective by explaining how medical tests are increasingly revealing the harmful effects of environmental pollution on human health. He encouraged students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives, such as waste segregation, tree planting, and reducing plastic use.
A highlight of the event was the pledge-taking ceremony, where students committed to conserving water, reducing pollution, and actively participating in efforts to create a cleaner, greener future.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students engaged with the speakers, reflecting a shared enthusiasm for environmental preservation. The day’s program inspired all participants to take responsibility for fostering a healthier planet.
