On November 12, 2024, the Sulabh Public School campus came alive with a sense of excitement and hope as it welcomed a distinguished delegation from Boeing, alongside representatives from the US government.
In his welcome address, Dr Prem Kumar, Chairman of the Sulabh International School of Action Sociology and Sociology of Sanitation (SISASSS), set the tone with inspiring words that highlighted Sulabh’s commitment to societal advancement. Mr Kumar Dilip, President of Sulabh International, followed, expressing gratitude for the support and collaboration with Boeing that is helping to unlock new opportunities for students across India.
One of the highlights of the visit was a tour of Sulabh’s new STEM lab, a space brimming with creativity and innovation, funded by Boeing as part of its “Sukanya Project.” This lab is a cornerstone of Boeing’s commitment to advancing STEM education in India, aiming to inspire a love for science, technology, and engineering. Children showcased projects like obstacle-detecting robots, proudly displaying their newfound skills. In the adjacent room, younger students delved into books in “A Room to Read,” a library created with Boeing’s support to cultivate a lifelong love for learning. With each new chapter they read and every project they demonstrated, these students were embracing possibilities that once seemed out of reach.
Ms Praveena Yagnambhat, Boeing’s Chief of Staff for India and South Asia, shared her vision for empowering communities and nurturing the next generation. “This is what our future looks like,” she remarked, moved by the enthusiasm of the students and the transformative potential of education. She emphasized that Boeing is deeply committed to creating these educational pathways, ensuring that quality learning becomes a reality for all.
Mr Salil Gupte, President of Boeing India & Southeast Asia, delivered heartfelt words to the students, encouraging them to dream boldly. “Many of you will shape this country, making it all it can be in the next century. I hope projects like the Boeing STEM Lab inspire you to build a better future for yourselves and for India,” he said, igniting a spark of ambition in the students.
Ms Nancy Izzo Jackson, Deputy Assistant Secretary for India Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, echoed this sentiment, commending the creativity and resilience of Sulabh’s students. “We’re investing in India’s future—in its children, women, and girls—because a nation thrives when all its citizens, regardless of background, have opportunities,” she said, affirming the U.S. government’s dedication to supporting India’s youth and future potential.
Reflecting on Boeing’s support, Sulabh President, Kumar Dilip conveyed deep appreciation: “Thanks to Boeing, we are closing gaps in access to education for underserved communities, supporting India’s vision of universal education, and aligning with SDG 4.”
Dr Sutirtha Sahariah, Sulabh’s Senior Vice President and Head of Communications, spoke to the media, celebrating Boeing’s commitment. “We are honored by Boeing’s partnership and proud of the values they bring—responsibility, compassion, and selflessness—values instilled by our founder, Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak. With this shared vision, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives we touch,” he stated.
The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Ms Sumita, a Sulabh School teacher, and a commemorative group photograph with the Boeing delegation. This day at Sulabh International was not just a visit—it was a testament to the power of collaboration and a shared dream of a brighter future for every child, filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
